Day 55 ~ Photo Challenge

One of the Globes from my daughters collection....

and now take a closer look at what it says...

What did you learn this continent as?

The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics was formally formed on 30 December 1924 with the adoption of a federal treaty and constitution, and survived until 31 December 1991. Following the forcible incorporation of the Baltic states in 1940, it contained fifteen constituent republics: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Byelorussia, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kirgizia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldavia, the Russian Socialist Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. It was the largest country in the world in area, with a population of 293 million in 1991, composed of a multitude of ethnic groups, languages, and religions.

Day 54 ~ Photo Challenge

Wednesday February 23, 2011

Today's Photo Challenge was
"Where I went today..."

"Scentsy" Show.

I love "Scentsy" just about as much as I love Heritage Makers!!!

Nothing is more memorable than a smell.  One scent can be unexpected, momentary and fleeting, yet conjure up a childhood summer beside a lake in the mountains; another, a moonlit beach; a third, a family dinner of pot roast and sweet potatoes during a myrtle-mad August in a Midwestern town.  Smells detonate softly in our memory like poignant land mines hidden under the weedy mass of years.  Hit a tripwire of smell and memories explode all at once.  A complex vision leaps out of the undergrowth.

Day 53 ~ Photo Challenge

Playing "Scrabble" on Facebook
with my sister in Colorado...
She just took my spot for my "Q" word!

Sisters don't need words.  They have perfected a language of snarls and smiles and frowns and winks - expressions of shocked surprise and incredulity and disbelief.  Sniffs and snorts and gasps and sighs - that can undermine any tale you're telling.  ~Pam Brown

Day 52 ~ Photo Challenge

My pile of Photos waiting to grow-up into an
 project!

“A person is neither whole nor healthy without the memories of photo albums.

They are the storybook of our lives. They provide a nostalgic escape from the tormented days of the present.”

~Patrick Garry

Crazy, Crazy Weather!!

Woke up this morning to the sound of thunder, rain, and hail!

This is the hail that covered the ground!

P.S. refer to day 47...it was beautiful!

Weather is a great metaphor for life -
sometimes it's good,
 sometimes it's bad,
and there's nothing much you can do about it but carry an umbrella.
 ~Terri Guillemets

If your sibling gets something you want,

you

(1) try to take it;

 (2) break it;

or (3) say it's no good”
